Non-Academic Engagements

Dr. Md Saidul Islam is a member of WWF Singapore and has been a regular donor and active participant in the “Say No to Shark Fin” campaign. As of March 2018, the campaign successfully secured pledges from 89 major restaurants and their 3,800 affiliated outlets to stop serving shark fin. He has also supported other WWF initiatives, including “Don’t Let Plastic Choke the Planet” and “Earth Hour”.

In addition, he has been actively involved with the United Nations Association of Singapore (UNAS), participating in programs focused on social justice, conflict resolution, and public awareness. In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Md Saidul Islam received the UN Day Award 2017 during the Commemoration of UN Day held on 24 October 2017 at the Mandarin Orchard Hotel in Singapore.
